Created and maintained by the world famous animator and Academy Award winner Hayao Miyazaki, Ghibli Museum is a playful mini theme park with characters you’ll recognize from some of his famous works.
The location is not in the best of places, as it is a bit off the central area of Tokyo, but if you’re a big fan, it’s a must visit attraction. If you don’t like animation (and have no heart), then you most definitely should pass on this excursion.
There is an added bonus to those who make the haul out to the museum. Inside, you’ll find a special 15 min. short movie that doesn't exist anywhere else, a shop full of goods to die for, and a café for those who need a break from all the excitement to round out the pleasant experience.
JR: Chuo Line, Sobu Line
Tokyo Metro: Tozai Line
Be warned, you MUST purchase your entrance ticket in advance. Tickets are not sold at the museum.
It’s a popular tourist destination and the number of guests that can visit at any one time is limited.
Bear in mind purchasing a ticket can be troublesome for foreigners.
＊On a side note, space is often available around 4pm.
